Kindness Grants

The Kindness Grant Initiative
The Kindness Grant is a TDB Family Foundation initiative designed to fuel people-powered kindness. This is a one-time $1,000 micro-grant awarded to individuals, small groups, and grassroots efforts with simple but powerful ideas to create change.
Inspired by Mr. Rogers’ call to “look for the helpers,” this grant is for everyday changemakers. The neighbors who see a need and step up. The kids who rally their classmates. The teachers who spark change. The dreamers who just need a little support to turn kindness into action.
We will be awarding one new grant each week for six months—24 grants in total.
We believe that small acts can create big change, and we’re excited to support tangible, immediate-impact projects that foster connection and compassion in communities. Our grants focus on five key areas: Amplifying Voices of Youth, Pathways to Mental Health Resiliency, Building Thriving Communities, Lens of Hope Films, and Pet-Powered Pawzitivity. You can find further info on our focus areas here.
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. All applications will be reviewed by a kindness jury, with submissions anonymized for fairness.
If you have a small but mighty act of kindness in mind—something that could spark a ripple effect but just needs a little funding—this micro-grant is for you. Let’s bring your idea to life!

APPLICATION
Thank you for applying for a Kindness Grant! We are thrilled to support individuals who are passionate about making an impact in their community through acts of kindness. We believe that small acts add up, and we can’t wait to see how you encourage connections in your community!
Below are the guidelines for submission. Please read them thoroughly and ensure you qualify prior to applying. Additionally, please note the requirements for Grant awardees (specifically expectations around sharing content) before you move forward. By submitting your application you agree to the expectations and requirements below.
Guidelines for submission:
- One of the goals of this initiative is to inspire others to implement their own ideas of kindness. So, as part of the reporting requirement, we would like each grant recipient to share a short written story about the project along with any relevant photos or videos that we can share on our website and social media platforms.
- Grants and projects are restricted to individuals and organizations located within the United States.
- Grant recipients under 18 years old need to obtain the consent of a parent/guardian authorized to co-sign the agreement.
- Grant funding may only be used to offset the direct expenses and costs of the work. No portion of the grant is allowed for payment of staff or salary. Grant recipients will be required to submit a report detailing the expenditures for the project (with applicable receipts).
- Grant recipients agree to return any unused portion of the funding. Make your best effort to spend the money as you proposed. Contact the Kindness Grant team before making any changes.
- We will award only one grant for any individual, group or small organization.
- Family members or relatives of the TDB Family Foundation staff or board members are ineligible to receive a grant.
