A new pair of running shoes might not seem life-changing, but for a young person in juvenile detention it can symbolize something much bigger: possibility. In a setting where structure and limitation often define daily life, it’s easy to lose sight of your potential. But Life Strides Foundation is changing that narrative.
Since launching in 2023, Life Strides has supported over 90 youth athletes, helping them access the emotional and physical benefits of running. These aren’t just workouts; they’re moments of self-discovery, connection, and healing. And the impact goes far beyond the track.
When Life Strides prepared to expand to a second facility in Colorado, they hit a snag: many of the youth didn’t have proper footwear. Training, let alone competing, was difficult and unsafe. That’s where the Kindness Grant came in! With this $1,000 micro-grant, they were able to provide a full fleet of running shoes, ensuring every participant could show up and run safely, confidently, and with dignity.
Our team was inspired not just by Life Strides’ mission, but by the heart behind it. Their work reflects our Pathways to Mental Health Resiliency pillar and reminds us that sometimes the kindest thing you can do for someone is help them see what they’re capable of.
We’re honored to support Life Strides, and we’ll be cheering from the sidelines as they continue to grow.
